Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. (PVI) is pleased to announce that it has received a $75,000 grant from the Peninsula Health Care District’s (PHCD) Community Grants Program. This grant will support PVI’s mission to support seniors through its Meals on Wheels and Rosener House Adult Day Services programs.
“The Peninsula Health Care District Board of Directors is thrilled to partner with local organizations that are improving our community’s health and wellness on a daily basis,” said District Board Chair Lawrence W. Cappel, Ph.D. “We want to recognize the 2018 grant recipients for the work they do to educate the community and provide access to needed health services.”
At the tenth annual Community Partners Awards Ceremony on February 7, 2018, PHCD awarded $1.35 million in grants to 38 local organizations. In addition, each organization had an opportunity to recognize a volunteer who helps support their mission and makes a significant contribution to the community. PVI recognized Darlene Woodson for her three decades of service to PVI’s programs serving seniors, and her tireless commitment to advancing their ability to serve more people.
“This funding from Peninsula Health Care District has been crucial to our expansion of the Meals on Wheels program into the Northern half of San Mateo County, and to supporting more families through age-related illnesses at Rosener House,” said Peter Olson, CEO of Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. “We’re grateful that PHCD is recognizing and investing in these vital services as the need is growing each and every year.”
PHCD’s Community Grants Program, established in 1996, is just one example of how the District invests tax-payer dollars for the benefit of community health and wellness. The Board annually identifies local health priorities, solicits grant applications from community organizations addressing those priorities, and awards grant funding to support their work and outreach. In 2018, PVI is one of 38 local organizations to receive a grant from PHCD, a community investment of $1.35 million.
