Menlo Park, CA – December 2024: Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. (PVI) is pleased to announce that it has received a $165,000 grant from the Sequoia Healthcare District (SHD) spanning the 2024-2026 fiscal years. This grant is to further assist PVI’s ability to support the independence and mobility of seniors in the community through RIDE PVI, its transportation services program. SHD’s generous financial support allows PVI to provide an elevated level of customized service to seniors by employing staff who specialize in serving the unique and varied needs of seniors.
As more local seniors find challenges in getting to their essential destinations when they are no longer able to drive due to vision/physical impairment or encounter public transit obstacles, having transportation options for mobility, safety and peace of mind becomes even more critical. “This funding from the Sequoia Healthcare District enables our capacity to offer low-cost, on-demand transportation alternatives for vital medical appointments, grocery and other daily needs” said Kamilah Najieb-Wachob, PVI Program Manager. “Our deepest appreciation goes to Pamela Kurtzman, CEO, and the entire SHD board for their long-term support of the transportation program and recognizing PVI’s significant role in providing key services in the community.”
