Wednesday, March 4, 2026, PVI celebrated our 14th annual award ceremony honoring two direct care employees at PVI Adult Day Services with the Roos Kates Awards.

The awards are the Arthur J Kates Patient Caring Care Award and the Irene and George Roos Patient Caring Care Award. These awards are presented by the Gene Kates family of Atherton, and Debbie Streiber in Southern California, to honor and encourage front-line direct care staff who work closely with and provide care to those living with dementia. Each year, the awardees are voted on by their peers based on PVI’s 5 integral values: Respect, Commitment, Trust, Dedication, and Compassion.

These awards were created because my relatives felt that elderly care facility professionals were underrecognized, and I am honored to represent these awards today. – Gene Kates

The evening began with a heartfelt welcome from PVI Adult Day Services Director Dao Do. She noted her ability to learn from her team and her gratitude to both the Kates and Streiber families for their continual support of PVI. After much anticipation, the first to be awarded was Personal Care Assistant Sveta Krasikova, who shared what it means for her to be a part of PVI’s Adult Day Services at Rosener House.

The second award of the evening went to Program Coordinator Fita Selui, who shared the integrity of the work and how this award acknowledges not just her own achievements at Rosnener House, but those of her team and everyone that help the program run.

The ceremony was supported by the PVI Adult Day Services volunteer committee, who provided the decorations and light refreshments, and expressed their gratitude for PVI Adult Day Services.
