Board Members

Laurie Croft

Board Member

Laurie Croft is currently in her third year of PVI membership, much of my time has been devoted to Rosener House, both as a committee member and volunteer care companion. Initially I was drawn to Rosener House to assist the participants who have complex diagnoses and care plans since my medical background seemed like a good fit. For the last three Holiday Boutiques at Rosener House I have helped participants select gifts for their loved ones and themselves, which has been very rewarding.

Although I have been raising a family and caring for seniors in my own family, I am trained and board certified in the medical practice of anesthesiology. After obtaining my BS in Biology from Stanford University, I completed my medical school education at UC Irvine followed by a medical and surgical internship at Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco and residency at Stanford University Medical Center in the specialty of anesthesiology. My practice included cardiac and general anesthesia.

In the coming months I look forward to continuing committee work at Rosener House, as well as volunteering more at Little House and wherever there is a need.

Dee Dee Schurman

Board Member
I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the third of four siblings, and attended college in Philadelphia, where I studied history. After graduating, I moved to New York City in July 1966 and began what would become a lifelong career in computer science.

In March 1967, I married my husband, David, an orthopedic surgeon who later became a professor at Stanford. We settled in Palo Alto, where I continued my career in computing. We raised two children, our daughter Hilary and, two years later, our son Ted. Both continue to live in the Bay Area.
David’s career gave our family the opportunity to travel extensively around the world. We spent a year in Cambridge, England, during a sabbatical and also had a shorter sabbatical in Singapore. Our children were young when we lived in Cambridge, making that year a particularly memorable family experience.

Throughout my career, I have believed strongly in giving back to the community, following the example set by my parents. I have always made volunteer work an important part of my life. After retiring from full-time employment, I founded my own computer consulting company, where my clients included Intel and Stanford. I was fortunate to have work that I truly enjoyed and found both challenging and rewarding.

Today, I continue that commitment to service as a board member, bringing my background in technology, business, volunteer leadership, and community involvement to organizations and causes that are meaningful to me.
