Football Legends Jerry Rice and Steve Young Deliver Meals with Peninsula Volunteers, INc.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Menlo Park, CA — April 16, 2026

Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. (PVI) was honored to welcome football legends Jerry Rice and Steve Young on April 1, 2026, as they participated in a Meals on Wheels ride-along, delivering meals to older adults served by PVI.

As part of a Meals on Wheels delivery route, Rice and Young joined PVI to deliver nutritious meals directly to recipients, helping raise awareness about the growing need to address hunger and isolation among older adults. The visit highlighted the powerful role Meals on Wheels plays in supporting individuals who rely on consistent access to healthy meals and regular check-ins that help them remain safe and independent at home.

Jerry Rice, who recently became an ambassador for Meals on Wheels America, continues to advocate for programs that ensure older adults receive the care and connection they need. His participation, alongside fellow football legend Steve Young, helped shine a spotlight on the importance of community-based services that support aging adults.

“We are incredibly grateful to Jerry Rice and Steve Young for taking the time to support our Meals on Wheels program and help raise awareness about the needs of older adults,” said Stephanie Figeira, Nutrition Services Director at Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. “Moments like this help bring visibility to the essential services that make it possible for seniors to age in place with dignity and independence.”

For nearly 80 years, Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. has served older adults across the Peninsula through programs that promote independence, dignity, and connection. PVI’s Meals on Wheels program delivers thousands of meals each year, providing not only nutritious food but also reassurance and meaningful connection.

As demand for Meals on Wheels services continues to grow, Peninsula Volunteers, Inc. encourages community members to learn more about supporting Meals on Wheels through volunteering, donations, and advocacy.
